Nice venue outdoors. Not huge but fits about 8k. It’s a nice outdoor place with lawn seating within the Stanford University Campus area. Plenty of parking to the venue. We attended a reggae concert here and it was great! Perfect for the music and vibe! Would def attend another event here.
How is it possible that I went to
Santa Clara University and have spent time at Stanford along with living in the area since 1984 and I’ve never been to the Frost Amphitheater? This venue is simply spectacular. I love the trees lining the sides of the seating area and unlike the Greek Theatre, the grass areas are gently sloped for comfortable seating. The sound quality is excellent though it’s definitely not loud towards the back which is good or bad depending on how much you like the music. It’s a long drive from Walnut Creek but certainly worth the effort. Plus, parking is convenient and getting out at the end is super easy and fast. Don’t ever go to the Shoreline, be sure to come here instead. I can’t wait to come back again - as soon as another good reggae show comes to town.

My summary : Layout, seats, acoustic were amazing. Parking was decent and spacious but costed about 30. Food was expensive and gross. -
A really great summer venue. Loved the lawn seats as they are tiered so as king as people don't decide to stand in front of you it's a laid back view. I did see some people had come early and tailgated in the parking lot which seemed fun.
Acoustics were surpsingly good for an outside location. Also the folks music was back set by crickets which was wonderful.
They did charge for parking (30 buckaroos) but it wasn't overall crowded and was nice not to have to fight for a spot. Make sure to remember where you parked (which lot) easy to get turned around at night!
They let us bring in food and unopened water bottles. I'd recommend this as the food options were expensive and pretty gross tasting. The pretzel tasted like it was super old.
seen Rebelution and Iration here in the beginning of August.. it was my 1st time attending a concert at this venue and it was awesome 👌🏻.. the atmosphere was really chill and everyone was very friendly.. everything was clean and the lines all moved very quickly.. the amphitheater is surrounded by trees and the grass is soft and green . I will definitely be attending more concerts here in the future
I didn’t know this venue existed until James Taylor performed there. Great place to see a show! What an amazing setting. I’m surprised they don’t do more events!
It was expensive to park, eat, and drink…but it feels like all venues have gone the route of maximizing per attendee revenue. The flip side is it felt less like a cattle call than most venues due to the smaller crowd capacity.
Very cool venue. A bit slow on the entry, but everything else was fantastic. Beautiful to have trees inside the venue. Rocking out in the forest. I'll be back.
I really liked the venue for the Cavetown concert. My daughter my son and I all had a good time. It's all GA but not a bad spot in the place. If you have a chance to watch a concert here go for it. 1st picture is where I sat far away 2nd picture is my son close up to the band.
Fabulous outdoor space for Stanford Live festival in summer. We loved the SF ballet performance Starry Night here. Even with our 3 year old, we were able to sit through 2/3 of the performance on the lawn.
Great acoustics and lighting.
Absolutely love the change from day to night during the performance. Magical! One can see the shadows of the dancers leaping across the stage, making ballet look so effortless and elegant. The dance piece set to Stravinsky violin concerto was absolutely exquisite!
